Through
the years, Envidia Records has attempted to record all types of
All Stars recordings utilizing old and young artists. This year
they bring us "La Feroz de Prado"
a danceable recording concentrating on music from the 90s, with
an aggressive charanga format and trombones thrown in the mix
for good measure.
Bamboleo's
"Ya no hace falta" gets an interesting interpretation
from Susset Rodríguez who vocally does not bring anything
new to the song. However, the violins, flutes and trombones give
this track an extra push and force that the original did not have.
Same goes for the classic "Temba, tumba, timba"
performed here by Oro Mixto, trying to incorporate
hip hop into the mix, it is really the speed in which the song
is played (much faster than the original) that makes the song
inviting.
While
Lázaro Moré and Michel
Pérez do a fine job, it is Tirso Duarte
who (once again) steals the show. He makes Fidel Morales
"La expresiva" (NG had a huge
hit with this song) his own, changing the chorus, the tempo, while
Marnie Upierre's flute playing is exquisite.
One
of the issues with the embargo is that we can't hear or see if
these studio bands can deliver live. Hopefully one day we will.

Atraves
de los años, Envidia Records ha tratado de grabar todo
tipo de grabaciones "All Star" utilizando artistas jóvenes
y viejos. Este año nos traen "La Feroz
de Prado", una grabación bailable concentrando
en la música de los 90's con un formato charanguero agresivo
y unos cuántos trombones mezclados por ahí.
"Ya
no hace falta" de Bamboleo recibe una
interpretación interesante por Susset Rodríguez
quien, vocalmente, no trae nada nuevo a la canción. Pero
los violines, flautas y trombones entrega un empuje extra y le
da una fuerza a este tema que no tenía la versión
original. Lo mismo con "Temba, tumba, timba",
aquí con Oro Mixto, tratando de incorporar
hip-hop a la mezcla, pero es la velocidad en que tocan la canción
(más rápido que la versión original) que
hace interesante esta canción.
Mientras
Lázaro Moré y Michel Pérez
hacen un buen trabajo, es Tirso Duarte quien
(una vez más) roba el show. Se apodera de "La
expresiva" de Fidel Morales (NG
tuvo un éxito tremendo con este tema), cambiando
el coro y el tempo, mientras la flauta de Marnie Upierre
es esquisita.
Uno
de los problemas con el bloqueo es que no podemos escuchar estos
conjuntos en vivo para ver si son iguales de bueno. Esperamos
algún día que esto cambie. Hasta entonces, disfruta
