I absolutely
love it when I put a new CD on for the first time, and with the
very first song, I just KNOW I’m not going to be able to
sit still for at least the next 45 minutes!
Tumbando
Cabeza does just that – it knocks your head
off with Tabaco y Ron’s high energy, big salsa band sound
that just doesn’t quit – all the way through the CD.
It’s a non-stop Salsa Party!
Formed in
Los Angeles 6 years ago, Tabaco y Ron have a huge West Coast following,
and it’s no wonder – it’s quite evident from
this, their latest CD, that they are one of the tightest bands
around today –
and they keep getting better. This is a band that has one goal
in mind – get the folks up and dancing!
The arrangements
of pianist / producer / band leader, Héctor Manuel
Rivera, are nothing less than superb.
Talented
lead vocalist Martín
Padilla
has a great salsa voice with a sound and style comparable to the
great Oscar D' León, but he always makes
it fresh, fun and full of his own personality. His delivery and
the voices of the coro are a match made in salsa heaven.
César
Espinosa, lead percussionist, shows off his soul-pounding
rhythm in Herencia Rumbera, but the truth is, that not
only he, but all of the musicians of Orquesta Tabaco y
Ron are very accomplished at what they do. They play
to the dancers.
If you always
wanted to know what is West Coast Swing, but were afraid
to ask, check out the 2nd (and title) track, Tumbando Cabeza.
Oh, man! It just doesn’t get better than this! I take that
back – there is a way it could get better – kidnap
the whole band for a weekend show on the east
coast!

encanta cuando pongo un CD por primera vez y al escuchar la primera
canción sé que no voy a poder quedarme quieta, al
menos por los próximos 45 minutos!

Cabeza hace exactamente eso - te tumba con la alta energía
de Tabaco y Ron, un gran sonido que nunca se cansa - hasta el
final del CD. Es una fiesta salsera sin fin!
Formado
en Los Angeles hace 6 años, Tabaco y Ron tienen muchos
fanáticos en la costa del oeste de los EEUU y eso se hace
evidente aquí en su último CD que ellos son uno
de los conjuntos musicales más compactos hoy en día
- y siguen mejorando. Este conjunto sólo quiere hacer una
cosa: levantar al público a bailar.
Los
arreglos del líder músical, productor y pianista,
Héctor
Manuel Rivera
son superbos.
El
vocalista principal, Martín Padilla, tiene
una voz salsera con un sonido y un estilo parecido al gran Oscar
D' León, pero siempre lo hace con frescura, lleno de su
propia personalidad. Su entrega y las voces del coro forman una
pareja hecha en el cielo salsero.
César
Espinosa, percusionista principal, se destaca con un
ritmo que pega al alma en Herencia Rumbera, pero la verdad
es que no sólo él, sino todos los músicos
en la Orquesta Tabaco y Ron son muy buenos con
lo que hacen. Tocan para los bailadores.
Si
siempre querías saber lo que es West Coast Swing, pero
tenías miedo de preguntar, échale un vistazo al
segundo tema (el tema titular), Tumbando Cabeza. Ay,
hombre! No hay mejor que eso! No, creo que sí hay una manera
que se podría mejorar - secuestra al conjunto entero por
un show de fin de semana en la costa del este!
