DJ most nights and a salsa band on Fridays and Saturdays. On weekends,

Dwight "Chocolate" Escobar hosts this night at a venue
that has to be one of the top spots in town: it has floor-to-ceiling
glass walls, a terrace onto the harbour and views across Port
Jackson to the Opera House. There's a good clear space for dancing,
and if it gets too crowded, you can dance outside on the terrace.
Dwight's not playing so much timba at the moment, as he says "they
[the dancers] don't like it". So casineros, get down there
and put the hard word on him to play the good stuff from Cuba. |

están que arden con su son cubano tradicional aquí
cada semana. Es una buena vibra: parte del local está al
aire libre con vista del puerto, buena música y un público
entusiasta. Hay un DJ arriba que toca salsa de Puerto Rico y Nueva
York, además de reggaetón y bachata. La Cita tiene
muchas clases y un DJ casi todas las noches pero cobran caro los
fines de semana. De todas maneras, la mejor noche es jueves.

Santiaguero trumpeter Armandito and his band Trovazon cook up
a storm with their traditional Cuban son here every week. It's
a nice vibe: a half-open-air venue that looks out onto the harbour,
great music and an enthusiastic crowd. There is a DJ upstairs
that plays PR/NY salsa and reggaeton and bachata. La Cita has
lots of classes and has a DJ most other nights too, but there
is an expensive cover charge on the weekends, and in any case,
I think this is the best night to go.
