Café Latino (Coffee House / Amarillo) Mikonkatu 9, 00100 Helsinki + 358 10 7663 550 Fridays 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. A new addition to the Helsinki salsa life, but immediately very popular. This a Coffee Shop in the immediate centre of Helsinki that plays salsa, reggaeton, merengue etc. every Friday from 11 p.m. onwards, although the place itself is open (as a café) earlier too. It is usually very crowded, partly owing to the fact that it’s a quite small place, and the atmosphere is usually quite nice. The bar is well-equipped and the dance floor is good, even though it isn’t as big as in Club Havana. The entrance is free of charge, and the cloak-room charge is 1,5 €. In the same house, on the other side of the entrance is Amarillo, a nightclub with a questionable reputation, mainly because its visitors are so drunk. Es un café en el centro de Helsinki donde ponen música de salsa, reggaeton y merengue cada viernes a partir de las 23 h, aunque el café mismo está abierto antes también. Normalmente está bastante lleno de gente, a lo mejor debido a que no es un lugar muy grande, pero el ambiente está siempre agradable. La barra está también bien equipada y la pista de baile está buena, aunque no tan grande como en Club Havana. Para entrar no cobran nada, pero la guardarropa cuesta 1,5 €. En el mismo edificio, en el otro lado de la entrada está El Amarillo, un club con una reputación dudosa puesto que la gente allí siempre está muy borracha. Club Chocolate (Club Rose Garden) Iso Robertinkatu 10, 00100 Helsinki Wednesdays 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. Salsa, reggaeton, merengue and similar music in a basement-club in the middle of the week. Not very crowded, but if you want to dance salsa on a Wednesday, this is your best bet. The entrance is free though, with only a cloak-rooms charge of 1,5 €. The dance floor is satisfactory, but it would be better if there weren’t pillars obstructing half of it. No se llena demasiado pero si te da ganas de bailar un miércoles, es aquí donde podrás hacerlo. No cobran para entrar, sólo 1,5 Euros para colgar tu abrigo. Club Havana Kaisaniemenkatu 3, 00100 Helsinki, Helsinki Saturdays, 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Club Havana has moved to Voda Club & restaurant in Hotel Carlton, in the centre of Helsinki. Entrance is 5 € plus cloakroom fee. DJ Cuban Ambassador plays a mixture of salsa and pop music, and the few times that this event has existed it has been attended by a mixture of civilian clubbers and salsa dancers. It has been very full though, for the place is not very big.	Club Havana Kaisaniemenkatu 3, 00100 Helsinki, Helsinki Sábado, de 22.00 a 04.00. Club Havana ha mudado a Voda Club y Restaurant en el Hotel Carlton, situado en el centro del Helsinki. Por la entrada cobran 5 € más el costo de la guardarropa. Este evento es bastante nuevo y ha sido muy bien asistido en las pocas veces que se lo ha celebrado. El DJ pone una música que constituye una mezcla de música pop y salsa y la gente que vienen son también de ambos clientelas. El evento está normalmente muy repleto ya que no es un lugar muy grande.
Public Corner (downstairs) Keskuskatu 4, 00100 Helsinki +358 9 612 0240 Thursdays, 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Salsa music every Thursday from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., organised by Salsa Borealis Entrance 2 € + cloakroom charge, only cloakroom charge for members of Salsa Borealis (membership costs 10 €). The DJ plays mostly salsa, bachata and some reggaeton music until about midnight, after which normal club music is played. The dance floor is big enough for maybe 15 simultaneous couples dancing. It is however a bit uneven and dark. Entrada cuesta 2 € (no incluye el guardarropa) y es gratis para los miembros de Salsa Boreales (cuesta 10 € hacerse socio). El DJ pone mayormente salsa, bachata y reggaeton. Después de la medianoche suele poner música normal de discoteca. La pista de baile tiene espacio para unas 15 parejas, y normalmente hay sitio suficiente para bailar, pero el lugar es un poco oscuro y la pista no está muy anivelada. Restaurant Aeropoli Finnair stadium Urheilukatu 1, 00250 Helsinki +358 9 7421 6304 Some Fridays 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. Salsa evening organised some Fridays by dance school Baila Baila, though not as regularly as before. Organised maybe 5 times a year, with salsa instruction at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. (approximate times). The place comes with a big and good dance floor and a well-equipped bar. The teachers of the dance school are also the DJs, so the music played is mostly salsa, with usually one song of cha-cha-chá per night. Occasionally they also have a rueda here. Since this no longer is a regular event, it’s usually very well visited by the salsa public, fortunately the dance floor is big as well. Entrance 5 €, cloakroom free but on own responsibility. The clientel is more salsa dancers than ordinary people, most pupils at the dance school Baila Baila.	Restaurante Aeropoli Finnair stadium Urheilukatu 1, 00250 Helsinki +358 9 7421 6304 Viernes de 22.00 a la 03.00 h Noche de salsa organizada por la escuela de baile Baila Baila algunos viernes (quizás 5 veces anualmente), con clases de salsa a las 21.00 y 22.00 hs. (Horas aproximadas). El lugar tiene una pista de baile grande y una barra bien equipada. Los instructores de la escuela Baila Baila también sirven como DJs, y la música que ponen es más o menos salsa, con una pista de chachachá por noche. A veces también hacen una rueda de casino. Por la entrada cobran 5 €,, no hay que pagar por la guardarropa, pero es a su propio responsabilidad. Como ya no es un evento regular generalmente está repleto de gente, pero hay sitio para bailar porque la pista de baile es grande. La mayoría de los que vienen son estudiantes de la escuela de baile Baila Baila.
Restaurant Eatz Kaisaniemenkatu 2, 00100 Helsinki +358 9 687 7245 Friday and Saturday 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Formerly the Latino hang-out in Helsinki, Eatz no longer aims its events to the Latino or salsa public. It still features the same Cuban DJ occasionally, but the music he plays depends on the public. In other words: salsa music may still sound in Eatz, but there is no guarantee, and there are now better places to go to if you want to dance salsa. Mandatory cloakroom charge of 4 €, unless there's a live band, then the entrance varies from 5 € to 10 €, including cloakroom charge. The capacity of the dance floor is maybe 10 couples. Water costs 1 € at the bar.	Restaurant Eatz Kaisaniemenkatu 2, 00100 Helsinki +358 9 687 7245 viernes and Sabado 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Anteriormente la guarida de los latinos en Helsinki, pero ya no dirigen sus eventos al público latino y en consecuencia la música depende del público, anque el mismo DJ continua trabajando allí casualmente. De vez en cuando pueden poner salsa, pero no hay ninguna garantía y si se quiere bailar salsa hay mejores opciones ahora en Helsinki. Si no hay música en vivo cobran 4 € por el guardarropa (tienes que pagarlo), pero en caso de que haya música en vivo la entrada cuesta entre 5 y 10 € (con la guardarropa incluido). La capacidad de la pista de baile es para unas 10 parejas. Por el agua cobran 1 € en la barra.
Matiné Latina Club Fantasy, Visbynkuja 2, Itäkeskus Sundays from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday salsa opportunity in a club in the Itäkeskus shopping mall. Entrance 3€ + cloakroom fee of 2€. DJ Damian junior plays salsa, cumbia, merengue, reggaeton and romantic slow music. Itäkeskus shopping mall is easiest reached by the metro.	Matiné Latina Club Fantasy, Visbynkuja 2, Itäkeskus Domingos de 17.00 a 22.00. Salsa los domingos en el centro comercial de Itäkeskus, más fácilmente alcanzado vía el metro. Cobran 3€ más el guardarropa que cuesta 2€. El DJ Damian Junior pone música de salsa, cumbia, merengue, reggaeton y romántica.
Umo Jazzhouse Pursimiehenkatu 6, 00100 Helsinki +358 9 6122 1914 (Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) Select Saturdays from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. Not a regular salsa place, but they usually host a salsa evening once a month, with a live band and usually a couple of hundred people arriving to what is referred to as the biggest salsa dance floor in Helsinki. Water is free at the bar. At the moment there are two distinct events taking place there: “País Tropical”, tickets 7,5 € (students) / 9 € and “Salsafiesta Especial”, tickets 8 € / 10 €. Umo Jazzhouse Pursimiehenkatu 6, 00100 Helsinki +358 9 6122 1914 (Lunes a viernes entre 10.00 y 16.00h) Algunos sábados de 21.00 a 03.00 h. No es un sitio donde hay salsa regularmente, pero tienen una noche de salsa una vez al mes, con música en vivo. Normalmente llegan cientos de bailadores a lo que se refiere la pista de baile de salsa más grande de Helsinki. El agua es gratis en la barra.
