"I'll put you on the list of invitees, plus one. I start at midnight" Manolín told me, so we went to Club Aché, arriving about quarter to 12. The club was nearly empty! It wasn't until about 1:15 that the musicians arrived and they didn't go on stage until about 2 in the morning. By then the club was full.
The concert started with some well known hits from the past. ¡A la batalla! Angel "Pututico" Arce on timbales, Renier Guerra on drums, Víctor Nápoles on bass, with two specially invited guests: Armando Gola and Memo. Joaquín "El Kid" Díaz as vocalist and Alexis "Mipa" Cuesta on congas. The guitarist was Lázaro Rodríguez. On trumpets: William Polledo and Pável. Saxophone: Guillermo Roig. And the Green and Blue lady vocalists: Bea and Lizyanet. I don't know the names of the trombone players nor the piano player. We missed Luis Bu on Piano (he recorded the CD with Manolín, but wasn't at the concert). All in all, a great band!
In the middle of all that Timba, his new single, "Mi desastre" from the new CD, "Tiene que ser Manolín". This is really more of a salsa romántica style, and the DVD included with the CD says, "Based on a true story".
The DVD also includes the song called, "No quiero saber de amores" (I don't want to know anything about love)." (Translation: "...I want to get lost in the night! I don't want to have anything to do with commitment. I want sex, I want vices..." This song will surely become the anthem for all the immature players out there.
But the CD itself is pretty good, with enough Timba to satisfy his fans. Recommended. |
"Yo te pondré en la lista de invitados más un acompañante. Yo empiezo a las 12" me dijo Manolín, así que fuimos a Club Aché llegando un cuarto para las 12. El club estaba casi vacío! No fue sino hasta la 1:15 que llegaron los músicos y no subieron al escenario sino hasta las 2 de la madrugada. Ya para esa hora el club estaba lleno.
Empezó el concierto con algunas canciones conocidas de antaño. ¡A la batalla! Y las damas de verde y azul, vocalistas: Bea y Lizyanet. No sé quiénes tocaron los trombones ni el piano. Faltaba Luis Bu en piano (Grabó el disco con Manolín, pero no estaba en el concierto). En fin, tremenda banda!
Entremedio de tanta Timba, su nuevo single, "Mi desastre" del nuevo CD, "Tiene que ser Manolín". Ese tema es más bien salsa romántica y el DVD incluído con el CD dice "Basado en hechos reales."
También incluye un tema llamado, "No quiero saber de amores". "...Quiero perderme en la noche! No quiero saber de nada que me huela a compromiso. Quiero sexo, quiero vicio..." Esa canción se convertirá en el antema de los inmaduros, por seguro.
Pero el CD en sí es bueno, con bastante Timba para sus fanáticos. Recomendado. |
