As
was to be expected, the "Caballero de la Salsa", or
the "Salsa Gentleman", Gilberto Santa Rosa, filled the
House of Blues concert hall in downtown Disney in Orlando Florida
with love this past Friday the 13th of February.
Around
11 p.m. and after the crowd had been incessantly shouting for
him, the Caballero de la Salsa appeared on stage. He was dressed
with an elegant navy blue suit and he proceeded to launch his
show, which in my opinion, is one of the best I've seen in a very
long time.
He
began by singing his latest hit, "Se te olvidó",
which is characteristic of his style with the incorporation of
the flute. He then sang, “Que alguien me diga”,
“Un amor para la historia” and “Un
montón de estrellas”.
With
his band and his backup singers behind him, Gilberto was upbeat
and noticeable happy to be back on stage, especially on such a
special occasion as is Valentine's Day.
In
the second half of the concert, “Gilbertito”
as we call him lovingly in Puerto Rico, stopped the show to interact
a bit with the crowd. He thanked the promoters and the supporters
of the event for making it possible.
To
my surprise, to that of the public as well, “Gilbertito”
sang very few boleros and he concentrated instead on pleasing
the dancers in the crowd by singing his trademark "salsa
sabrosa". He did sing the song, "Si te dijeron"
in bolero style and began a medly that included most of his
hits, including one that took us back to his beginnings in salsa.
"Lluvia" is the song that made him famous,
together with Willie Rosario and his orchestra.
He then sang, “Conciencia”, “Déjate
querer”, “Que se lo lleve el río”,
“Perdóname” y “Voluntad”.
Once
again, Gilberto Santa Rosa has proven himself
to be one of the incomparable top salseros.

Como era de esperarse el Caballero de la Salsa,
Gilberto Santa Rosa llenó de amor, sentimiento
y mucha rumba la sala de conciertos de la House of Blues en Downtown
Disney en Orlando, Florida este pasado viernes 13 de febrero.
Cerca
de las 11:00 p.m. y después que su público lo aclamara
sin cesar, apareció el Caballero de la Salsa
en tarima. Ataviado con un elegante traje azul marino, Gilberto
Santa Rosa dió comienzo su presentación,
la cual en mi opinión ha sido la mejor que he presenciado
en mucho tiempo.
Comenzó
entonando su nuevo tema “Se te olvidó”
el cual es muy característico por la incorporación
tan marcada de la flauta. Seguido interpretó “Que
alguien me diga”, “Un amor para la historia”
y “Un montón de estrellas”.
Acompañado
por su orquesta y coristas, Gilberto se mostró
enérgico y muy contento de estar una vez más deleitando
a su público, sobre todo en una fecha tan especial como
lo es el “Día de los Enamorados”.
En
el segundo ciclo del concierto “Gilbertito”
como lo llamamos cariñosamente en Puerto Rico, hizo un
alto para interactuar un poquito con el público y una vez
más agradecer tanto a los promotores como a los auspiciadores
del evento por hacer posible su presencia esa noche.
Para mi sorpresa y la del público en general, “Gilbertito”
entonó muy pocos boleros y se concentró más
en darle gusto al bailador con la salsa sabrosa. Luego de hacer
un alto e interpretar “Si te dijeron” en
tiempo de bolero, dió comienzo a un “medly”
impresionante de todos sus éxitos, y en el cual se remontó
a sus comienzos en la música al abrir con el tema “Lluvia”
el cual hizo famoso cantando junto a la orquesta del maestro Willie
Rosario, seguido por “Conciencia”,
“Déjate querer”, “Que se
lo lleve el río”, “Perdóname”
y “Voluntad”.
Definitavamente
una vez más queda demostrado que Gilberto Santa
Rosa es un valuarte incomparable en cuanto a la salsa
se refiere.
