Conga
player and bandleader Gilberto Calderón, known as Joe
Cuba, was born in New York City in 1931. His group,
the Joe Cuba Sextet, included timbales, vibraphones,
piano, bass and singer. In 1967, his recording
Bang Bang

He is considered to be one of the first Latino/Nuyorrican
