Many SalsaPower readers sent Joe Cuba get well cards and prayers... and they WORKED!

Thank You!  ˇGracias!

"...spoke to Joe Cuba on the phone today and he is 100% better. He sounds great and is starting to walk this week. It looks like he will make a full recovery. Thank God!  Please pass along this good news to all your readers." -- Larry Harlow

Joe Cuba is recuperating at:

Joe Cuba (Gilberto Calderón)
DeWitt Nursing Home
East 79th Street, between 2nd and 3rd Avenue in Manhattan, New York
USA

Conga player and bandleader Gilberto Calderón, known as Joe Cuba, was born in New York City in 1931. His group, the Joe Cuba Sextet, included timbales, vibraphones, piano, bass and singer. In 1967, his recording Bang Bang scored on the national Hit Parade in the United States. He is considered to be one of the first Latino/Nuyorrican salsa artists to include English lyrics in his recordings, such as in his recording, Sock It To Me.
